Recipient shall be majoring in the Life Sciences. Preference given to students from the Sandhills, second preference to students from Nebraska.
Merlin was raised on a small ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska and graduated from Stuart High School in 1970. He attended Chadron State College with scholarship support and graduated with a B.A. in 1974 and a B.S. in 1975. He received his M.D. in 1978 and his M.S. in 1980, both from the University of Nebraska, along with a Ph.D. in Medical Genetics and postgraduate training at Indiana University Medical Center. He received the Distinguished Service Award from CSC in 1986. Merlin and his wife Ranae have established this endowment for the Life Sciences to help in the education and training of CSC Students to become inspired and achieve success in their own field of interest and endeavor.
