Christof Muller was born in Northeast Nebraska during the Great Depression. With finances extremely limited, he worked for two years after high school graduation to help pay for college until he was drafted into the Navy when the Korean War began. When Chris returned to college he served as a dorm counselor where he developed a love for counseling. After completing his Master's Degree he served as a counselor for Lutheran Family Services, the Omaha-Council Bluffs Big Brothers Association and the Children and Youth Program before accepting the position as Chairman of the Social Work Department at Chadron State College.
