Theodore Galusha Endowment

Eligibility: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior
Area of Interest: Visual Arts, Music, Speech, Theatre

Criteria:

Recipient shall be enrolled in the area of Fine Arts - with the following majors being considered in the order given: music, drama, and art. The recipients shall have a GPA of 3.0 or above.


Theodore “Ted” Galusha graduated from Hay Springs High School in 1929. Following High School he attended CSC for two and a half years. In 1932 Ted left CSC to continue his studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln; he farmed, collected fossil mammals to sell commercially, trapped, and hunted. In 1935, Childs Frick, a paleontologist/geologist who had his own private laboratory and study facilities in the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, hired Ted to collect fossil mammals for him. This job last 41 years. He retired in 1976, and moved back to Chadron, with his wife, Marian. He married Marian in Chadron in 1935.
